MV DALI – General AverageFurther to recent reports, it is now understood that General Average has been declared.General Average security will be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo, and we will be able to assist with the provision of that security and thereafter to manage the entire GA process. We have automated systems in place to aid the collection of documents and the provision of security and we are in contact with the nominated Average Adjusters to discuss the security requirements.To submit any new claims for cargo on board, please use our GA document portal accessed at the following link https://lnkd.in/ei3bxeXh or email us at dalicasualtyclaims@wkwebster.com or use our website at https://lnkd.in/eWZN9FDg .With some 4500 containers estimated to be on board, the provision of GA security will be an extensive undertaking. MV DALI –Allisionwith BaltimoreFrancis ScottKey Bridge, USALarge containership,DALI, hasallided withtheFrancis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, United States at 01.30 hrs (ET) on 26.03.2024. The 9,962 TEU vessel was underway from Baltimore to Sri Lankaand Far Eastern portswhenitstrucka pillar of the bridge following which the 1.6-mile structure collapsed and fell into the water. Very sadly,it is reported that around 20 workers and several vehicles were on the bridge at the time of the incident and a search and rescue operation is underway by local authorities. All crew members, including two pilots on board, arereported to beaccounted for and uninjured. Images being circulatedacross the mediashow parts of the bridge structure entangled with the vessel.There will inevitably be significant loss and damage to containers and cargo on board the vessel and serious delays to the remaining cargo. It is not yet clear whether a transhipment exercise will be necessary to forward containers to their destinations. This incident may also give rise to a declaration of General Average and we are monitoring events closely in this regard. Should GA be declared, security will be required from all cargo on board prior to delivery and we can assist in this respect.We have already deployed a local surveyor to commence investigations and we stand ready to assist our clients with surveys, loss adjustments and recovery efforts against responsible parties.
