Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to BBC Sport: "There was a fantastic start to the game, we came out flying with great intensity, created several opportunities and should have scored more.

"I think the first-half start was good and then we backed off a little bit too much but we didn't give too much away. Second half we started really well again with the same intensity as we did in the first half.

"I think it is the big derby and we really wanted to come out and play again and build on that confidence and momentum we have."

On Ivan Toney: "I think he is such a fantastic story and he is the best penalty taker in the world. It is not lucky or coincidence. He is very calm and cool in those moments."

On the penalty and red card decisions: "I understand that a penalty at 1-1 can always be a little bit defining. As far as I know there was a clear contact in the box and that is a penalty the same way for their goal it is a clear contact for the free-kick.

"I think Lukic, that may have been a red card but I don't really want to talk about that because with the performance we did more than enough to deserve to win the game."

On the team's performance: "I am very delighted especially because in the Crystal Palace game I didn't think we was that great and this was a couple of levels up.

"They had great confidence and hopefully we can use that attitude and remain humble. We need to be humble enough to continue to work hard and win the duels and track back but have confidence when you have the ball."

On whether they can make the European places: "For me it is very important that we are allowed to dream and was always want to aim as high as possible but it is important to not get too carried away.

"We are in a good place and it is all about continuing."

  5. 'It was too sloppy'

    FT: Brentford 3-2 Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva speaking to BBC Sport: "Disappointing result of course, we wanted to fight for the three points. We know it was a derby, we knew the type of game they were going to play and they are strong at that type of game - a lot of challenges, a lot of duels, strong running in behind and we started sloppy.

"It was too sloppy. We didn't start aggressively enough, not brave enough and not with the quality we should have done. I am going to analyse it with the players and show them why things happen. We knew before how we should have started and we didn't start in that way.

"At half-time we spoke about how it was important to not start the same and again it was sloppy even if the decision from the official was harsh to give that type of penalty in a derby without VAR is a surprise to me. It was a a soft one and a harsh decision.

"We are talking about the best one in the country. He is a top-level referee.

"We didn't perform at our best level and what I can control is my team. From the first minute it was not a good performance and from the referee too. We should have done much better."

On Sasa Lukic being lucky not to be sent off? "I have to be honest in that moment, yes. He wasn't booked. It should have been a red card for the tackle on Lukic as well. Lukic should have been booked and had a second yellow card as well."

More from Thomas Frank on Sky Sports: "That was a top action we had been searching for that action in the minutes [Kevin Schade] has been playing and he finally showed it. It was a great assist, you see his pace and acceleration and his vision to find Mathias Jensen. We have seen these top offensive actions in training so we are getting closer and closer. But this was very nice to see and there is much more to come from him."

On concerns of losing rhythm: "It must be part of a manager having fear about the next game, but we have such a good rhythm. We started so well the first 15-20 minutes and then again in the second half creating good chances and pressure. It was like a six-pointer game so it was very important."

On the fans: "Big credit to the fans they are always on it here. I think it is the connection between the players and fans they give back and forth to each other to try to create the atmosphere. Everything is so positive and it creates a better atmosphere for every game."

On whether Brentford are ready for European football: "I think it is up for us to dream but stay laser focus, recover well tomorrow and then train well. We have difficult game against Everton and then going into a three-game week so we can't lose focus."

  9. 'Toney is a unique footballer'

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to Sky Sports about Ivan Toney: "I take all the praise, it is solely me. No it is Ivan, that is the technique he had when he arrived at Brentford. He is the best penalty taker in the world for a few reasons, his strategy, he practices it and he is very cool. He keeps doing it all the same.

"It is a unique skill with him, I think in general before this situation with the case going on before that unique ability to focus on games and training and he has kept doing that so that doesn't surprise me. He doesn't like the situation but he has top focus.

"He is a special footballer, I think his character is unique in terms of leadership and driving his team. His link-up play and the way he sees his team-mates around in terms of combinations and then his ability to score goals. He is an all-around football player."

  10. 'They were more aggrssive than us'

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva to Sky Sports: "Tough game. They weremore aggressive than us. They were stronger. We conceded goals in the first minutes of both halves.

"We reacted well and started to play our game some moments. We didn’t start the game the way we should. We reacted well and equalised. Again we started the second half sloppy."

On Brentford's penalty: "It’s a harsh decisionfrom the referee. He’s one of the top referees in this compeititon. I know whatit means to play derbies. This can be a VAR decision.

"It’s difficult to understandwhy in a competitive derby we give these kind of decisions. It was a surprise forme. They deserved the three points, they were more aggressive than us. They played in their way.

"We’ll not change what we’ve been doing. We have to be honestas well. The best way for us to improve is to be honest when we analyse thegame, make the players understand we weren’t at the standard we should be."

  11. 'This place is always rocking, the win was for the fans'

    FT: Brentford 3-2 Fulham

Toney on target as Brentford beat Fulham - reaction (7)

    Brentford

Brentford striker Ivan Toney speaking to Sky Sports: "This place is always rocking whether it is a derby or not, the fans were behind for us that win and it was for them.

"We could have been ahead by two or three maybe but fair play to them, they stuck in and held out. It was a bit unfortunate we hit the post twice and then they got a free-kick that hit the post and then they stick it in.

"I think the games go like that, you can have spells for 10 minutes and then they have a spell. That is how the game is but whether you concede or score you have to keep going."

On a potential red card: "I think [Sasa Lukic] slid in and I have to put my foot somewhere and he slid into my foot and I didn't go full throttle.

"For their second yellow I don't want to call for yellow cards but I think it was a clear one but the referee didn't think it was a yellow."

On controlling the second half: "We started the second half the same way we started the first half. Try to get on top of them and press them high and it worked."

On taking penalties: "The wait doesn't matter, the longer the better really because I can get away and think of other things like being away on holiday and chilling. The goalkeeper didn't move but I have always got a spot where I put the ball.

"I only changed the way I take penalties after I missed one."

On his celebration: "I am a fan of [Aleksandr] Mitrovic so I have to do his celebration and it was also for my son."

On how far Brentford can go this season: "We are going to take it game by game and hopefully if a few teams slip up we can win the league."

  15. Post update

    FT: Brentford 3-2 Fulham

This is how things look in the race for Europe.

Seventh would be enough for a place in the Europa Conference League play-offs if the FA Cup winners qualify for Europe through the league.

If there is a surprise FA Cup winner (Fulham are in the quarter-final) then you'd need top six for Europe.
