@altNOAA @comcast @Xfinity many times fiber optic cables are srung along power poles and Comcast is still a fiber to node solution. If the fiber is gone, restoring service will take considerable time.

They can use Morse code or blinking light for all anyone gives a damn. But they should communicate w/ customers.
